This week's book of the week is Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld. Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she's made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings and meets another writer who becomes more than just a friend. Her novel Afterworlds, starts with Lizzie, who survives a terrorist attack only to find out she can travel to the afterworld. In the afterworld, she meets Rama, someone else like her, but more powerful with more history. Told in alternating chapters between Darcy's story and Lizzie's, Afterworlds is an engrossing and fascinating tale of life and death. Check it out at the library today.
